More About Nick

Joined the team:  Since I could walk.

On the Job (what you do daily and/or weekly): I am part of the landscape crew.  We go out almost every day to a different site to install plant material.

Favorite plant and why: That’s tough because it’s hard to just pick one.  A few that I really like are the Sycamore because of its size and unique bark, the Prairie Gold Aspen because of the color, both summer and fall, and the unique sound of the rustling leaves in the wind.   I also like the Domingo Pine and White Pine because of their shape.  The Canaan Fir, Dianthus, Cerastium, Goldenrod.  I guess I have a different favorite for specific application and location.

Where did you get your green thumb: from my dad and grandpa

Hobbies: Working on my truck, playing cards while having a beverage or two, woodworking, spending time with my boys (two Pitbulls) and wife, and just hanging with family and friends.

Favorite food: Wings

Favorite TV Show: Letterkenny, Curse of Oak Island, and Last Man Standing

Most important part of the landscape:  Knowing the customer loves what we do.  It doesn’t matter that we love what we do if the customer doesn’t.  If they appreciate the change, than we have done our job.

Most rewarding part of your job: Seeing the look on the customer’s face when they come home and see the transformation.  Also, we get to be outside every day and no day is the same.

Gardening tool you can’t live without:  I can do a lot with a good shovel.

Favorite thing to do outside of work:  Work around the yard and spending time with family.

Favorite childhood memory: Family vacations were always interesting. Earning my Eagle Scout was a great accomplishment.

Favorite snack: Kettle Corn

One thing you can’t live without: Family

Favorite thing to do at work: I enjoy working Saturdays because I get to be at the store all day and help customers. Also, during the winter we have time to do some wood working. I really enjoy building things and having them for sale and display.

If you were a tree, what would you be and why: Commemoration Sugar maple because it has amazing fall color and a great shape.

What makes you laugh? My dad, brother, and sister have certain things they do that really get my belly rollin! Also, my son has his moments that can knock me to the floor. Really if we have a few family and friends together, it is a non-stop good time.

Hidden talent: I am pretty OCD about things, but I try to use it as an advantage. I feel it is a sort of talent trying to get things right the first time. I’m also getting pretty handy with working on my truck. It’s nice to be able to do things yourself.

Favorite quote: The whole movie of Benchwarmers.
